The West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Movement (TPNPB-OPM) announced victory in war for the year 2019. They claim to have shot dead 451 members of the TNI-Polri (Indonesian Army-National Police).

In a written statement, the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) mentioned the number of victims during the Ndugama war. They said, only four of its members died on the battlefield.

In addition, there were six people who suffered injuries. All were members of Kodap III Ndugama Murni.

They also said that nine civilians had died. TPNPB-OPM accused TNI / Polri forces of murdering the civilians in the Indonesian military operation which took place in 11 districts.

“TNI / Polri troops who were injured during the war we led by the TPNPB did not count [in the 451 total],” said TPNPB Commander, Egianus Kogeya in a written statement on his Facebook page.

Not only that, TPNPB-OPM also claimed to shoot and burn a helicopter in the Mapenduma area. There was also a helicopter shot in the Nitkuri district of Oldobo village.

“We also burned 32 heavy equipment excavators and dosers, from the capital city of Keneyam to Mbua district. We also burned 10 trucks and Strada,” he continued.

They also claimed to paralyze the construction of the Trans Wamena-Nduga Momugu national road. Development activities in Nduga Regency have also been halted for a year.

Egianus said that the resistance carried out so far was purely to fight for Papuan independence. The struggle has been going on since the 1960s.

At that time, the Ndugama war was led by General Kelly Kwallyk, General Daniel Yudas Kogeya, General Ellmin Sillas Kogeya, and General Daud Yiginap Lokbere. The struggle is continued by their children and grandchildren today.

“But the Indonesian government always calls us KKSB, KKB, OTK. Now we TPNPB are called terrorists and forest rats,” he continued.

Egianus asked the Indonesian government to stop all kinds of intimidation and discrimination against the TPNPB-OPM struggle and the people of West Papua. He said, Papuans were already eager to be independent, from Sorong to Samarai.

“You could have arrested me and my troops. Kill me and my troops. However, the ideology of Free Papua, you will not capture and kill it,” explained Egianus.

The guerrilas have continued insurgent activities in West Papua into 2020. On Wednesday January 1, TPNPB again attacked a TNI post in the Tembagapura area.

The attack that took place during the day was led by Yoni Beanal, commander of the Kali Kopi TPNPB Kodap III operation.

“We stopped because of heavy rain. We do not know yet how many victims the TNI were lost. However, for us, TPNPB were not hit with a single bullet,” Yoni said through TPNPBNews.

“After we coordinated in the field, two TNI / Polri members were shot and another injured on January 2, 2020,” he continued.

The guerrilla struggle against Indonesian occupation of West Papua will continue until the colonizers have been firmly defeated.
