TPNPB Guerrillas: 4 Indonesian Soldiers Shot Dead in Intan Jaya, Papua

The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) claimed responsibility for the attack on TNI (Indonesian National Military) in Mamba village, Intan Jaya on Monday, in which three Indonesian soldiers were killed.

Also, on Thursday, TPNPB guerrillas shot dead Serka Sahlan, a Village Guidance Officer (Babinsa) [a division of Indonesia’s armed forces] in Hitadipa, Sugapa, Intan Jaya, Papua.

Serka Sahlan and the Hitadipa Koramil Preparatory Task Force entourage were on their way to transport logistics when they were confronted by TPNPB guerrillas and a shootout occurred for 3 minutes.

Seeing Serka Sahlan lying hit by gunfire, his comrades ran helter-skelter to save themselves so that the TPNPB Guerrillas could freely cut his face with machetes.

“There was a firefight which lasted for about 3 minutes; finally, Serka Sahlan was hit by a shot in the left arm and cut with two machetes in the face after the TNI withdrew (fled),” said TPNPB spokesman Sebby Sambom.

According to Sebby, the escape of the TNI troops from around the TKP left their colleagues sprawled, making it easier for the TPNPB troops to seize one weapon and a number of ammunition.

“TPNPB-OPM Kodap VIII Intan Jaya Region succeeded in seizing one FNC type long rifle, 25 rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition and 1 magazine,” said Sebby.

Guerrillas in West Papua continually attack Indonesia’s colonizing armed forces that have been occupying West Papua since the 1960s and committing genocide against the indigenous West Papuan people.
