Uprising at Crawford County Detention Center in Arkansas

An uprising took place at Crawford County Detention Center in Arkansas on March 8th in response to the removal of a prisoner from his pod. In the face of the white supremacist American prison slavery system, comrades behind bars are fighting back in defense of their dignity and humanity.

When a sergeant and a deputy attempted to remove a prisoner from a pod containing 40 prisoners, the other 39 prisoners interfered. When the prisoner was removed, prison rebels attacked prison infrastructure, destroying televisions, lights, ceiling tiles, phones and the sprinkler system, which caused significant flooding. Damages from the uprising are approximated at $15,000-$20,000, the most of any rebellion within the facility since it opened in December, 2016.

Prison rebels are likely to face retalliation for their alleged involvement in the uprising. Abolitionists must continue to act in solidarity with imprisoned revolutionaries, who are courageously struggling for freedom in the face of oppression.
