Indigenous Groups Advance in La Paz

Yesterday police and part of the Armed Forces took the country in a coup. It seemed that in one swift blow the far right had eliminated any and all resistance.

Yet in response, thousands of indigenous people advanced on La Paz, destroying the Special Crime Force police station in Bolivia.

From on the ground in Bolivia: “We are on the brink of a civil war.

But people harassed by the coup d’├ętat have been responding to the calls and are facing the police.

They are burning police stations and want to resume Murillo Plaza

Now going to the streets is dangerous. Neighbors are organizing to defend their houses.

The police have been overwhelmed in El Alto and decided to retreat.”
