Police Officer Killed by Guerrillas in Philippines

A local police officer was killed and another wounded in a shootout with guerrilla revolutionaries at dawn on Mt Kapuwaw, Bagnen Proper (Mountains province), the Philippines on March 29.

The police officer died while being treated at Luis Hora Memorial Hospital in Bauko. The two police officers belonged to the 152nd Regional Mobile Force Company. The corporal was injured and is still in the hospital. The shooting, which lasted 15 minutes, took place while Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde was in the nearby Dangwa camp in La Trinidad for a command conference.

With the fascist Duterte in power in the Philippines, guerrillas are increasingly carrying out successful operations against police and military forces.
