Arrest of Palestinian Leftist Khalida Jarrar

On Thursday, 31 October, at dawn, Israeli occupation forces stormed the home of Khalida Jarrar, a Palestinian leftist and feminist leader in Ramallah. They seized Jarrar in her family home at 3 am, with more than 70 soldiers and 12 armed military vehicles during a forced incursion.

The arrest comes just eight months after Jarrar’s last release after her 20-month imprisonment in Israel, without charge or trial under administrative detention. This was not the only time Jarrar was imprisoned by the Israeli occupation; her arrest in 2017 comes just 13 months after she was released from Israeli jails after serving a 15-month prison sentence. After being arrested in 2015, she was placed in administrative detention.

Jarrar is a long time advocate for the freedom of Palestinian prisoners. She was Vice President and Executive Director of the Addameer Association. A member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, elected from the left wing Abu Ali Mustafa (PFLP Associate), she chaired the PLC Prisoners Committee. She is also a leader in the fight to hold Israeli leaders accountable for war crimes before the International Criminal Court. She is a member of a Palestinian commission charged with filing a complaint before the international court and filing a complaint in the international court concerning the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people by Israel,
