With the battle cry of “Samir Vive”, residents of Temoac, Amilcingo and other communities prevented the installation of polling stations, and demanded the cancellation of the Huexca thermoelectric plant and the gas pipeline.

Indigenous peoples and towns of Mexico are struggling against a neoliberal referendum to impose an ecocidal thermoelectric project. Many ballot boxes were burned, and comardes were tortured and imprisoned.

Samir Flores, and indigenous environmental activist, was shot in front of his house Mexico on Wednesday. A power outage occurred during the wake. Family members blame the Federal Electricity Commission, a promoter of the thermal-electric project Samir opposed.

The fight continues.
