Incendiary Attack on Office of Far-Right Senator Juan Coloma in Talca, Chile

At around 1:05 AM on August 28, 2019, two individuals placed an incendiary device inside the parliamentary office of Senator Juan Antonio Coloma from the far-right Independent Democratic Union (UDI) party in Talca, Chile.

The device was comprised of gas balloons that ignited causing a fire that had to be extinguished by firefighters. LABOCAR (Carabineros Laboratory) and IAPA (Police Investigations) experts arrived at the scene, commanded by prosecutor Claudia Díaz, who is carrying out the investigation. According to corporate media, leaflets were found at the scene with the following text: “Stop the TPP (Trans-Pacific Treaty) by all means. For a combative September. Freedom for Commander Ramiro [former urban guerrilla Mauricio Hernandez Norambuena who was recently extradited from Brazil to Chile].“
